Tips and Tricks

  • Cut the shell first, this makes it easy to line up and you won't risk scratching your master piece
  • Get the right tools, a pair of lexan body scissors is a very good investment
  • Warm the paint can in a bowl of warm water before you start this will thin it slightly and it will spray more evenly
  • Don't use the very last bit of paint from the spray can, it'll create large spots as it runs out
  • Let the paint dry before starting the next layer, the first couple of layers are critical, after this you can use thicker coats.
  • Never spray so much paint that it pools and runs, this will ruin the entire paint job
  • Use brake fluid to fix minor problems on the car, but be careful as it will almost always be visible afterwards
  • Give the painted Lexan shell about 24 hours before you use it, any less and the paint might not be 100% set
